ICESat?2 Based River Surface Slope and Its Impact on Water Level Time Series From Satellite Altimetry

چکیده

The water surface slope (WSS) of rivers is essential for estimating flow velocity and discharge. It also helpful as a correction applied to range measurements satellite altimetry missions derive level time series at virtual station. Using radar altimetry, WSS can only be roughly estimated limited wide because its coarse spatiotemporal resolution. In contrast, the lidar sensor onboard Ice, Cloud, Land Elevation Satellite 2 (ICESat-2) observe small rivers. ICESat-2's unique measurement geometry with six parallel laser beams, we instantaneous along across satellite's ground track, time-variable (with an average 5 days records in studied epoch between October 2018 2021), on reach-scale. Although method globally, this study 815 reaches Europe North America where sufficient validation data available. We compare ICESat-2 derived from multiple gauges constant “SWOT River Database.” For 89% reaches, used estimate median absolute error 23 mm/km. show possible performance gain stations (VS) “Database Hydrological Time Series Inland Waters” (https://dahiti.dgfi.tum.de), applying satellites' track variability. correct 137 VS yield improvements root mean square by up 30 cm or 66%.

Multivariate autoregressive modelling of sea level time series from TOPEX/Poseidon satellite altimetry

This work addresses the autoregressive modelling of sea level time series from TOPEX/Poseidon satellite altimetry mission. Datasets from remote sensing applications are typically very large and correlated both in time and space. Multivariate analysis methods are useful tools to summarise and extract information from such large space-time datasets. Multivariate autoregressive analysis is a gener...

Coastal water quality assessment based on the remotely sensed water quality index using time series of satellite images

This study was conducted with the aim of providing a remotely sensed water quality index in Assaluyeh port using remote sensing technology. so, according to the region conditions, studying of scientific resources and access to satellite data, the parameters of heavymetals, dissolved ions, SST, chlorophyll-a and pH were selected. Then, by reviewing sources, the product MYD091km, MYD021km, MOD02...

Correlation Analysis and Analysis of Drought Time Series Based on Modis Satellite Images and Standardized Precipitation Climatic Index (SPI) on the eastern slope of Zagros

Introduction Drought is one of the environmental disasters that is very frequent in arid and semi-arid regions of the country. Rainfall defects have different effects on groundwater, soil moisture, and river flow. Meteorological drought indices are calculated directly from meteorological data such as rainfall and will not be useful in monitoring drought if the data are missing. Therefore remot...

Monitoring Surface Velocity from Repeated ADCP Observations and Satellite Altimetry

A method has been developed to monitor the surface velocity field by combining repeated acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) observations and satellite altimetry data. The geostrophic velocity anomaly is calculated from the sea surface height anomaly field estimated from the altimetry data by an optimal interpolation. It has been confirmed that this accurately observes the smoothed velocity...

Gravity acceleration at the sea surface derived from satellite altimetry data using harmonic splines

Gravity acceleration data have grand pursuit for marine applications. Due to environmental effects, marine gravity observations always hold a high noise level. In this paper, we propose an approach to produce marine gravity data using satellite altimetry, high-resolution geopotential models and harmonic splines. On the one hand, harmonic spline functions have great capability for local gravity ...
